Open House

AORTA Collaboration

2761 Dreux Ave.

New Orleans, LA

Open House is an installation conceived to remind us of the past, celebrate the present and provoke discussion about the future. Part architecture, art and design, this piece sits on the slab of a home that was flooded and later demolished by the Army Corps of Engineers. Since it’s easy to see where walls stood, I believe the layout of the furniture is a fairly accurate guess of what was. In its current state, visitors are encouraged to hang out on the property and imagine the best way to move forward.
